Instructions
1. After using the Cut-a-Part Essentials #5 die to cut the Cut-a-Part sentiments out, I was inspired to use the leftover piece as a stencil! Tape it in place to a piece of smooth white cardstock and use a Stencil Brush to apply some yellow and orange ink in a graduated ombre effect.
2. Stamp a series of the Butterflies onto watercolour paper with permanent ink such as Staz On. Then colour them in with Uniqolor Markers. I chose to stick with a yellow/orange/white/black colour scheme – a sort of homage to the humble Monarch Butterfly. Use the matching dies to cut them out.
3. I wanted to give my butterflies a realistic look with their wings folded up. The watercolour cardstock is pretty thick so I used a scoring board to score a line right down the middle to make it easier to fold them exactly where I wanted them.
4. Time to piece it all together. The stenciled background was stuck to a black card base. Adhere the butterflies by applying a bit of glue only down their folded middle, so their wings would still rise up off the card. Attach the sentiment with foam tape for extra dimension, and I used both Sunshine Rhinestones and some clear Nuvo drops for a finishing touch of bling!
